Door types available in St Andrews
Prices are the same across Fife; each page explains what to expect in St Andrews.
Light and sun in St Andrews
Sun angles matter for big glazed doors. Around St Andrews, midday sun reaches about 57° in summer and drops to about 10° in winter. That low winter sun is free heat through south-facing glass; high summer sun is easier to shade with a roof overhang, and solar-control glass helps where there is none.
How it works in St Andrews
In St Andrews the process is simple: guide price, free survey, written quote, manufacture and fitting, to the Scottish building standards. Nothing is ordered until you confirm the surveyed specification in writing.
Approvals in Scotland
In Scotland, replacing a door like for like in a house does not usually need a building warrant, but the new door must still meet the Scottish building standards for energy and safety. Forming or widening an opening is different: that needs a building warrant from the council before work starts.
Sliding doors in St Andrews: questions
Can you widen my opening in St Andrews?
Yes. We can form or widen an opening for a larger sliding door, with structural calculations, a steel beam and Scottish approvals arranged. That work is quoted alongside the door.
Do you cover villages around St Andrews?
Yes. We cover St Andrews and the surrounding KY16 district, as well as Cupar, Monifieth and Dundee. If you are unsure, enter your postcode in the guide price tool.
Who fits the doors in St Andrews?
Doors are fitted by installers we appoint and manage under our contract, so your contract and guarantees stay with us. The same surveyed specification goes from the quote to the factory to the fitters.
