Planning glass for the light in Droitwich Spa
Daylight in Droitwich Spa runs from about 7 h 42 min in December to 16 h 47 min in June, with the noon sun at roughly 14° and 61° respectively. Use that to choose your glass: standard low-E double glazing for north and east elevations, and consider solar-control or triple glazing for sunny south and west walls.
What happens after you enquire
Start with a guide price online or by phone. A surveyor then measures your opening in Droitwich Spa, checks levels and the lintel, and you receive a fixed written quote. After you approve it, the door is made to measure and fitted, with the compliance certificate sent to you.
Approvals in England
In England, a replacement sliding door is a controlled fitting under the Building Regulations. In an existing home, a door with more than 60% glazing must reach a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better (or a Doorset Energy Rating of band C) under Approved Document L, and glass in doors must be safety glazing under Approved Document K. We arrange compliance through a competent person scheme installer or by notifying Building Control, and you receive the certificate.
Sliding doors in Droitwich Spa: questions
Can you widen my opening in Droitwich Spa?
Yes. We can form or widen an opening for a larger sliding door, with structural calculations, a steel beam and English approvals arranged. That work is quoted alongside the door.
Who fits the doors in Droitwich Spa?
Doors are fitted by installers we appoint and manage under our contract, so your contract and guarantees stay with us. The same surveyed specification goes from the quote to the factory to the fitters.
Which sliding door suits a home in Droitwich Spa?
It depends on the opening and budget. uPVC is the lowest-cost option for openings up to about 3.6 m; aluminium gives slimmer frames and wider spans; slimline and lift and slide suit large, high-end openings. The survey in Droitwich Spa is the place to settle it.
