Are internal glass sliding doors right for your Derry/Londonderry home?
These are the points a surveyor will go through with you when you choose internal glass sliding doors for a home in Derry/Londonderry:
Working from home in Derry/Londonderry and need a door on the study without it feeling boxed in? Reeded glass gives privacy on calls while the room still feels part of the house.
If you are extending a home in Derry/Londonderry, ask your builder to allow solid fixing above any opening where you want internal glass sliding doors, before the walls are boarded.
- Glazing bars can be arranged in grids, single horizontal rails or plain full-height panes, so the door can be matched to a period house or a modern extension.
- The top track carries the panel, so the floor stays continuous across the doorway with only a discreet guide where the door parks.
- Reeded, fluted or frosted glass can obscure a home office or utility area while still letting light through, giving privacy without a solid wall.

- Fixed side panel. A matching non-opening glass panel beside the door to fill a wider opening or form a glazed screen.
Questions about internal glass sliding doors in Derry/Londonderry
Is the price different in Derry/Londonderry?
The door price is the same as anywhere else. Because Derry/Londonderry is covered by arrangement, any travel cost for delivery and fitting is shown in your quote before you order; the survey itself is free.
How much space do I need beside the doorway?
A surface-mounted sliding door needs clear wall beside the opening that is at least as wide as the panel, so it has somewhere to park when open. For a bi-parting pair you need that space on both sides. Light switches, radiators and architraves in that zone may need moving or the design adjusting, which we check at survey.
How much does an internal glass sliding door cost?
Fitted internal glass sliding doors have a guide price of £1,695 for a single 900 mm panel, inc VAT at standard 2.1 m height, rising to £2,895–£3,495 for a 2,400 mm two-panel door. The glass type, number of glazing bars and track arrangement move the price within those ranges, and your written quote after survey fixes it.
How do I clean internal glass sliding doors?
Clean the glass with a soft cloth and a mild glass cleaner, and wipe the powder-coated frame with warm soapy water, avoiding abrasive pads. Keep the floor guide and top track free of dust and grit, which is what makes sliding doors feel stiff over time. Top-hung rollers do not normally need oiling.
