Daylight in Crowborough and what it means for your glass
Daylight in Crowborough runs from about 7 h 54 min in December to 16 h 33 min in June, with the noon sun at roughly 15° and 62° respectively. Use that to choose your glass: standard low-E double glazing for north and east elevations, and consider solar-control or triple glazing for sunny south and west walls.
What happens after you enquire
Start with a guide price online or by phone. A surveyor then measures your opening in Crowborough, checks levels and the lintel, and you receive a fixed written quote. After you approve it, the door is made to measure and fitted, with the compliance certificate sent to you.
Approvals in England
English Building Regulations treat a new or replacement external door in an existing home as a controlled fitting: it needs a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or better (or Doorset Energy Rating band C) if more than 60% of it is glazed (Approved Document L), and safety glass in a critical location (Approved Document K). Compliance is arranged through a competent person scheme installer or a Building Control notification, so you get a certificate for your records.
Sliding doors in Crowborough: questions
Can you widen my opening in Crowborough?
Yes. We can form or widen an opening for a larger sliding door, with structural calculations, a steel beam and English approvals arranged. That work is quoted alongside the door.
Which sliding door suits a home in Crowborough?
It depends on the opening and budget. uPVC is the lowest-cost option for openings up to about 3.6 m; aluminium gives slimmer frames and wider spans; slimline and lift and slide suit large, high-end openings. The survey in Crowborough is the place to settle it.
Who fits the doors in Crowborough?
Doors are fitted by installers we appoint and manage under our contract, so your contract and guarantees stay with us. The same surveyed specification goes from the quote to the factory to the fitters.
