Internal pocket doors across Mid Glamorgan

Where a Mid Glamorgan house has solid brick internal walls, a pocket door is still possible, but expect a new stud lining and more making good than in a timber partition.
Renovating a period property in Mid Glamorgan? Pocket doors can take panelled leaves that echo the existing doors, so the change looks considered rather than out of place.
- Reclaims the floor area a hinged door needs to swing, which in a small bathroom or cloakroom can be the difference between fitting a vanity unit and going without.
- When the door is fully open it disappears into the wall, leaving a clear doorway that makes two connected rooms feel like one larger space.
- Soft-close dampers can slow the door in its final few centimetres in both directions, stopping it slamming shut or bouncing back out of the pocket.

Questions about internal pocket doors in Mid Glamorgan
Do you fit internal pocket doors in Mid Glamorgan?
Yes. We survey and fit internal pocket doors in Mid Glamorgan and across Mid Glamorgan, including Bridgend and Merthyr Tydfil. Start with a guide price online or call us, and we will arrange a free survey for a new or replacement door.
Can I put a light switch on the wall with the pocket?
Not on the pocket section itself, because the door slides through that cavity and there is nowhere to run a cable or fix a back box. Switches and sockets can usually move to the other side of the doorway or to an adjoining wall. We point out any that need moving at survey, and an electrician should relocate them before the pocket frame goes in.
How much does an internal pocket door cost?
Our guide price for a fitted internal pocket door is £895–£1,595 for a single and £1,695–£2,795 for a double, inc VAT at standard height. Where your door falls in that range depends on the leaf, the hardware, the wall construction and how much making good is needed. The final figure is fixed in a written quote after we have surveyed the wall.
How long does it take to fit a pocket door?
Fitting a pocket door typically takes one to two days, depending on whether the wall is stud or masonry and how much needs opening up. New plaster then needs time to dry before it can be decorated. We agree the order of work with you at survey so other trades, such as an electrician or decorator, can be booked around it.
